US-based Fremont Bank is all set to start construction on a new six-storey, 34,000-square-foot headquarters building in California.

The new building, which will be a prominent feature of the downtown Fremont revitalisation project, will house the bank’s main branch financial centre, and executive, administrative, and foundation staff. Set to be located at 39150 Fremont Boulevard, the structure is slated for completion by next year.

The building will feature all-glass frontage, a two-storey grand hall, special electrochromic glass on two sides, satellite dish on the roof which will record ambient light and the position of the sun. Other key features include unique ‘fins’ on the facade that have changeable, coloured LED lights.

The fins will provide visual interest and can also control the sun as it tracks around the building, by working in concert with the electrochromic glass. Additionally, the building will have a 1,500-square-foot garden rooftop entertainment space with kitchen and bar, and striking rooftop trellis.

Fremont Bank Board chairman Michael Wallace said: “This new headquarters is an extension of our long-term commitment to providing our neighbours with the best community banking options. “During this unprecedented time in our global history, many banks are shuttering branches and laying off employees due to the pandemic.

“Conversely, Fremont Bank sees growth opportunities as we continue to support individuals’ and families’ financial needs.” The structure will replace the previous headquarters of Fremont Bank located at the same site and recently torn down.

The bank is currently working with local commercial contractor C. Overaa & Co with regard to the project.
